Description
Hard-sided, fixed shape, 7.5 by 4 by 3.5 inches — design 1845 is built to take the knocks so the esrog does not. The case closes over the fruit and its padding, and because the shell does not flex, pressure from a bag, a coat or a car seat never gets through to what is inside.
The snap-on handle is standard on it. Most people leave it clipped on for Yom Tov morning and pull it off when they arrive, since the box then sits low and flat wherever there is room. No sizes to compare and no configuration to think through; this is the one build.
The 1845 number carries over into a megillah case as well, so the same design can cover both the esrog on Sukkos and the megillah on Purim. That kind of matching is worth knowing about before you choose a number, because once you have picked a design you can keep adding to it in later years instead of starting again.
